About HerbalNet Digital Repository

WHO South-East Asia Region HerbalNet Digital Repository is a wide-ranging collection of digital intellectual materials on herbal and traditional medicine from WHO offices and WHO partner institutions in the South-East Asia Region.

The objectives of HerbalNet are:
  • to promote inter- or multi-institutional collaboration among interested countries in the area of herbal medicine.
  • to share evidence-based information and country experiences in the use of herbal medicine in primary health care, and
  • to promote the safety, efficacy and quality of herbal medicines by exchanging information on national norms and standards.
HerbalNet is organized under three broad sections designated as "Categories", "Sub-categories" and "Collections". Information can be searched by various criteria such as author names, title words, subject terms and any word in the original document and receive results sorted by relevance.

Most items in the Repository are available as original full-text documents or full resolution images and videos. However, downloading of some of the items may be restricted due to copy right protection.

Please feel free to register at HerbalNet free of cost. Subscribers will be notified by email whenever a new item is added to the Repository.

As WHO partner institutions in countries of the Region have agreed to share information, please forward the electronic copies of your publications to the HerbalNet Secretariat particularly in the following two areas:
  • Information on the use of herbal medicines in primary health care; and
  • Information on research in efficacy, safety and/or quality of herbal medicines.
Other important publications such as pharmacopoeias and formularies can also be shared. We will be pleased to receive contributions though email or otherwise and would incorporate them into the Repository.

Thank you.
